Ugandan aviation officials say a plane en route to Somalia has crashed into Lake Victoria, shortly after taking off from the Entebbe International Airport.
Officials say at least 10 people were killed Monday when the plane caught fire and plunged into the water.
The list of passengers and crew has not been released, but officials have suggested 10 or 11 people were aboard the flight.
Russian media report that the plane's Russian pilot and co-pilot, and Ukrainian navigator and flight engineer, were killed in the crash.
Burundian army officials say three top Burundian military officers, including a general and a captain, were also aboard.
Uganda and Burundi provide troops to the African Union peacekeeping mission in Somalia.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
Air crashes are not unusual in Africa, where many airlines fly old aircraft.
